Terms of Service

A readable pre-launch overview of marketplace expectations, member responsibilities, rentals, payments, deposits, and platform rules.

These terms are a working pre-launch draft and should be reviewed by legal counsel before public launch.

Introduction

These Terms of Service describe the expected rules for using Unkeepit, a neighborhood rental marketplace designed to help people rent everyday items from one another. By using the platform, users agree to act honestly, respectfully, and in accordance with these terms.

Eligibility

Users must be able to enter into a binding agreement and comply with applicable laws. Unkeepit may require identity, contact, or account information before a user can participate in marketplace activity.

Accounts

Users are responsible for keeping account information accurate and secure. Activity that occurs through an account may be treated as the responsibility of the account holder.

Marketplace Role

Unkeepit provides a platform for renters and owners to discover, request, and coordinate rentals. Unkeepit is not the owner, renter, buyer, seller, manufacturer, or inspector of items listed by members.

Listings

Owners should provide accurate listing information, clear photos, pricing, availability, condition details, and pickup expectations. Listings should not misrepresent an item or include prohibited items.

Rentals

Renters should review listing details before requesting an item and use rented items responsibly. Owners and renters are expected to coordinate pickup, return, and item expectations in good faith.

Payments

Payments are intended to be processed through the platform or approved payment providers when payment features are available. Users should not attempt to avoid platform payment flows when a rental is handled through Unkeepit.

Deposits

Some rentals may include refundable damage deposits. Deposits are intended to encourage responsible use and help protect owners if an item is damaged, lost, or not returned as expected.

Cancellations

Cancellation expectations may depend on booking status, timing, item availability, and communication between the renter and owner. Users should communicate promptly when plans change.

Damage or Loss

Renters are expected to return items in the condition received, except for ordinary wear consistent with the rental. Users should document damage or loss quickly and cooperate with support review when needed.

Reviews

Reviews should be honest, relevant, and based on actual rental experiences. Users may not post abusive, misleading, retaliatory, or fraudulent reviews.

Prohibited Items

Users may not list unsafe, illegal, recalled, counterfeit, stolen, regulated, or otherwise inappropriate items. Unkeepit may remove listings that create risk for members or the platform.

Platform Rules

Users may not harass others, misrepresent themselves, bypass platform protections, interfere with platform systems, or use Unkeepit for unlawful, deceptive, or harmful activity.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Unkeepit is not responsible for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from use of the platform or member-to-member rentals.

Changes to Terms

Unkeepit may update these terms as the platform evolves. Updated terms may be posted on the website, and continued use of the platform may indicate acceptance of those updates.
